Born in Halesowen in the West Midlands, Neil had an early love for music from records his family left around the house. After spending the first part of his childhood drumming on the sofa with rolled up Chinese table mats, his parents contacted trumpet player John Saunders who gave Neil the drum chair in his award winning concert band and put him in touch with the great drummer Mal Garrett.

Mal taught Neil every Saturday for three years solid and within his first year of study Neil won a national drum and percussion award. His early career was spent in the Stourbridge Concert Band, the Stourbridge Youth Swing Band and the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra, where he won many awards with all these fantastic bands and considers, to this day, that the training he gained in them as valuable as any music school in the country.

Neil has since worked with many people and has been lucky enough to have the most varied career he could wish for with such diversity of styles, which reflect his love of soul R’n’B , jazz, latin, fusion, pop and rock.

Neil has also carved out a successful career in teaching, passing his love of the instrument to all his students, resulting in excellent results and their winning many awards in their own right. Neil also studied with the acclaimed Joe Morello and Jim Chapin from the USA whom he still studies with when he visits the UK. Neil has been requested on two occasions to appear as featured drummer at Ted Heath and Animal drummer, Ronnie Verrell's tribute night at Harrow arts centre, sponsered by Premier drums. Neil Bullock is a phenomenal musician.
